Head Coach - Alex Zasadny
Alex joined the Carteret Currents in April of 2009, bringing with him over 15 years of competitive swimming experience. He looks for this year's team to aim for their team and individual potential and find success.
Alex, a native of Kansas City, KS, swam at the University of Missouri-Columbia. There, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He was voted the 2006 Most Improved Swimmer and was an Academic All-American. Alex specialized in the butterfly and freestyle events.
Before college, Alex swam for the Kansas City Blazers Club Swim Team. He was coached by Pete Malone, a USA Swimming Hall of Fame inductee and was voted one of USA Swimming's Top 25 Most Influential People in the History of Swimming. Alex notes, “Pete had a very positive influence in my life, he lead me to believe in myself and realize that anything you set your mind to is possible.”
Assistant Coach - Tom Mason
Tom started Carteret County Swim League which grew from 3 teams and 70 swimmers in 2004 to 5 teams and 180 swimmers in 2007. He was the interim head coach and assistant coach with Carteret Currents Swim Team from August 2006 to present.
Tom's coaching and personal achievments include:

- Undefeated in regular season and conference in 2002 and 2003
- Conference champs in 2002-2004
- Took a 3rd place in North Carolina swimming in 2002
- Head swim coach Y-Bolts Masters Swim Club in 1995-1996
- Assistant swim coach Y-Bolts Age Group Swim Team 1993-1995
- Y-Bolts Age Group Swim Team was state champions in long course 1994 and 1995 and state champs in short course in 1995

Retired teacher, math/sciences grades 5-12. Member United States Masters Swimming since 1995. Competitive swimmer since 1996: 1998 Nike World Masters Games, 2006 FINA World Masters Championships, 1997 U.S. National Senior Sports Classic VI, 1999 National Senior Games, U.S/ National Long Course Championships 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 3K/5K National Championships 2002-2008
