Carteret Currents Swimming Practice Structure -- Fall 2009

(Green)
5 and over

Requirements: Child must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke. Proficient form is not required. Swimmers must be able to listen to coaches' instructions.

Group Emphasis: The main focus for this group will be increasing efficiency in freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers will be taught breaststroke and butterfly as well as be introduced to starts and flip turns.

Expectation: Three practices a week.

SC (Sports Center): M-W-TH, 4pm-5pm

CCAW (Cape Carteret Aquatic & Wellness Center): M-W-TH, 6:00 pm-7:00 pm

EAC: W & F, 4pm-5:00pm

Age Group 2
(Blue)
12 and under

Requirements. Swimmer must be able to swim freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly legally.

Group Emphasis: The group will be concentrated on advancing stroke technique in all four strokes with the addition of interval sets to prepare themselves for the next level. They should have the desire to improve their swimming. Swimmers should have the desire to work hard, listen to instructions carefully, and demonstrate a positive attitude about swimming.

Expectation: Three practices a week.

SC: T-TH-F, 4pm-5pm

CCAW: M-W-TH, 6:00 pm-7:00 pm

EAC: W & F, 4pm-5:00pm

Age Group 3
(Gold)
14 and under

Requirements: This group consists of the most skilled and experienced age group swimmers and places an emphasis on serious training for competition. Swimmers at this level strive to rank among the top swimmers in the nation in their age groups.

Group Emphasis: The priorities in the Gold Group are skill development and physical conditioning, along with the development of mental training and race preparation concepts. Gold swimmers are expected to participate in LSC championship meet competition. This group prepares swimmers for the elite group.

Expectation: Four practices a week

SC: M-F, 4pm-5:30pm
*Sat 8-10am

CCAW: M-W-TH, 6:00 pm-7:00pm

EAC: W & F, 4pm-5:30pm

Senior HS 13 and over

This group is for high school swimmers who wish to be involved on a swim team but may not have the time or desire to make a full commitment to year-round swimming. Focus is on stroke instruction and conditioning. Participation in meets is highly encouraged.
Swimmers are encouraged to attend 4 practices a week.

SC: M-F 6:00 am-8:00am
M-W-F, 4:00pm-5:30pm
Occasional Sat AM TBA

$85/month
Senior 13 and over

Requirements: This group consists of the highest level within the group structure of Carteret Currents Swim Team. Swimmers demonstrate the necessary dedication to achieve their maximum potential as a competitive swimmer and young adult. It is the purpose of this program to provide a national class environment of training and competition.

Group Emphasis: Swimming is a very high priority in your life, striving for personal excellence and Elite level performance. Swimmer should be able to handle time management of their swim schedule and schoolwork. They demonstrate good sportsmanship by encouraging teammates to reach their goals.

Expectation: Five practices a week.

SC: M-F, 3:30pm-5:30pm
*Sat 8-10am

$100/month

*PLEASE NOTE: Saturday practices may not be held on weekends when the team is traveling to an away meet.
